Founded more than a decade ago, by a family who has been there, the Children's Cancer Association brings JoyRx to seriously ill children and their families, in the hospital and at home. When families need support, CCA is there with award-winning programs and resources.
Music Rx® soothes and delights critically ill children, their family members and the medical professionals who care for them, both in the hospital and online.
In Portland, Oregon, Southwest Washington State and Los Angeles, the hallways of children's hospitals are infused with the healing power of music. Fueled by therapeutic music specialists and highly trained volunteers, our flagship program delivers bedside music therapy, hallway performances and an interactive mobile music cart that travels through every unit of the hospital.
You can make a world of difference to a child going through cancer treatment by supporting our Music Rx® program. Below are examples of the experiences you can provide seriously ill kids and their families. Get Involved, be inspired.
$10: Bring a musical toy to a toddler’s bedside, increasing joy and providing an outlet for pain, fear and isolation.
$25: Load an iPod with 25 songs from every genre, giving teens in the hospital a reprieve from their treatment.
$50: Provide a small keyboard for our magical music cart, which travels to hospital bedsides delivering the healing power of music.
$100: Provide a small guitar for our music cart, allowing kids and teens to unleash their inner rock star!
$500: Provide a music sampling touchpad for teens and “tweens” to mix and create their own music – just like a DJ!
$1000: Bring a harp to the bedside of a dying child, providing peace and comfort.
